BOC Specshield 2.5% N2 in Argon Gas Cylinders
The BOC Specshield range delivers superior results when TIG or plasma welding austenitic stainless steels or plasma cutting stainless steel and aluminium.
This argon-nitrogen mixture has been specially developed to deliver optimum results when TIG welding duplex stainless steels.
Nitrogen is present as 2.5% by volume as many duplex stainless steels, particularly super duplex stainless steels, have nitrogen in the metal to improve corrosion resistance.
When heated for welding (with a standard shielding gas) there is a danger that the nitrogen levels in the duplex stainless steel will lessen and corrosion resistance deteriorates.
Specshield 2.5% Nitrogen in Argon reduces the level of nitrogen loss in these metals to ensure good corrosion resistance as well an excellent weld quality.
