Nitrogen (Oxygen free) 230bar supplied in multiple cylinder sizes (2.1m3 to 9.8m3 capacity) Nitrogen is a non-corrosive, inert gas and is compatible with any common metals provided the equipment is designed to with stand the process pressure of a compressed gas cylinder. Inert to nearly all substances at ambient temperatures and moderate conditions. Nitrogen keeps laser-cut faces oxide-free due to the chemical inertness to react with the atmosphere. At higher temperatures, nitrogen can react to form metal nitrides. Nitrogen gas is only slightly soluble in a wide range of liquids and is therefore used to flush unwanted gases from solutions. Reduces internal degradation of the rubber in tyres due to oxidisation. As a cryogenic liquid, nitrogen can be used to thermally contract metals.

Alushield Heavy Alushield Heavy is a mixture of 75% helium and 25% argon developed primarily for the MIG welding of aluminium above 10mm and TIG welding of aluminium above 6mm thick.It produces the most fluid weld pool of all the Alushield gases and this gives deep, broad weld profiles with much lower reinforcement levels than the other gases, especially argon. On thick sections (12mm and above) an added advantage of Alushield Heavy is that plate edge preparation angles are reduced without losing penetration.This is due to Alushield Heavy's ability to punch into a material with its far higher energy transfer. Not having to use such a large edge preparation angle reduces the amount of wire required to complete joints and the number of welding passes, a key part in cutting production costs. Preheating will still be required for welding most thicknesses of copper but temperatures will be lower than for argon. Argoshield Light is specifically formulated for MIG welding sheet and thin sections of mild steel less than 4mm thick. The low levels of carbon dioxide and oxygen in the weld reduce the risk of burning through and leaving holes in the weld area. The addition of oxygen improves the flow of the molten weld metal producing flatter welds with lower levels of reinforcement. This can greatly reduce the need to machine or grind down the reinforcement, which is a known stress raiser, reducing production costs. Argoshield Light has excellent arc stability minimising the amount of spatter produced. Reduced spatter means less welding wire being wasted, as well as shorter clean up time. This makes the product ideal for welding components that are painted or powder coated after welding. The faster welding speeds achievable with this gas coupled with a low heat input also help to reduce welding distortion. The BOC Specshield range delivers superior results when TIG or plasma welding austenitic stainless steels or plasma cutting stainless steel and aluminium. This argon-nitrogen mixture has been specially developed to deliver optimum results when TIG welding duplex stainless steels. Nitrogen is present as 2.5% by volume as many duplex stainless steels, particularly super duplex stainless steels, have nitrogen in the metal to improve corrosion resistance. When heated for welding (with a standard shielding gas) there is a danger that the nitrogen levels in the duplex stainless steel will lessen and corrosion resistance deteriorates. Specshield 2.5% Nitrogen in Argon reduces the level of nitrogen loss in these metals to ensure good corrosion resistance as well an excellent weld quality. The addition of hydrogen to Specshield improves the penetration and surface finish. In automatic welding hydrogen improves welding speeds and produces a flatter weld bead. Specshield 5% Hydrogen in Argon achieves better welding speeds than other suitable shielding gases, helps cut production costs as well as reducing the amount of distortion created in the components being produced.
